Why have a wedding photographer?

Here at Artisan Images we feel that wedding photography is one of the most important ingredients of your wedding day. You have booked the dress, hired the suits, booked the venue, arranged the flowers and sorted the bridal favors but wedding photography can be over looked.

The reason that we feel it important not over look it is for your own memories. There is nothing quite like looking through your own wedding album (although we do get considerable enjoyment from our customers as well), I know my own wife will say that although we had a videographer on our wedding day she much prefers the wedding photography as when she looks through our album she knows how she felt on the day.

She can see people that were very dear to us that have now departed and see how they felt as well bringing alive a replay of our day through her mind in full technicolour! An aunty with eyes full of laughter tears, a fleeting glance caught by camera between the bride and groom, and a parents pride these are the wedding images that are special and cannot be replaced or replayed and in some cases will not have been seen by yourselves as you were busy getting married and generally having a good time.

Memories are invaluable and are therefore priceless.

Photography restrictions

Sometimes we are not allowed to take photographs at the actual ceremony, you may ask why this is? So do we, there are no hard and fast rules it comes down the individual vicar, registrar, rabbi or priest, so we have to work within the framework provided by them. Personally I think the ceremony is the most important part of the day, the whole reason we are all there. I’ve had numerous reasons given in the past in response to why we shouldn’t take photos from it’s distracting to it deviates from the meaning of the ceremony….. Well as professionals we can actually work quite discreetly from the back of the church with a long lens or even from the front of the couple, it’s if the photographer is moving around that it becomes distracting for the couple, the official and your guests. The other point is surely as this is the most important part of the day there really should be nice romantic shots of it, the tender kiss, the exchange of rings and the little glance that says we did it! These are the things that will make the couple look back with fondness on their ceremony with a visual reminder. If photography is important to you please check with your official to see what they allow.
